At the heart of the vision for youth formation in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux is the desire to form young people as disciples. More than merely intellectual formation, discipleship formation seeks to form the whole person. This includes a focus on intellectual, spiritual, human, and missionary formation through the process of relational ministry. Youth formation aims to present theological content in a way that is connected to the real lives of the young people, to help them live in relationship with Jesus Christ, and to foster their experience connectivity and belonging in the parish community.
Through intentional mentoring and accompaniment, parish youth formation teams seek to meet each young person where they are and walk with them through the movements of connect, encounter, conversion, grow, and mission in their heart. The Office of Parish Support offers personalized and ongoing support, training, and consultation for the adults who accompany our young people through this discipleship process
